Searching, filters and tags
Here is a video walk-through on how to use the search, filters and tags to navigate the resource collections available on the service sites.
Searching
The search bar is in the top right corner of each service site.
To improve search results ensure you follow the below guidance:
- Make sure spelling is correct
- Try different word families e.g. ‘policy’ or ‘policies’
- Try more general keywords
- Try fewer keywords

Filters
Search filters are available on the left of the search results you can filter by type of resource, study level, subject, qualification and unit title.
Type
- Activity
- Guide
- Infographic
- Quiz
- Video
Level
- Level 2
- Level 3
- Level 4
Scottish SCQF qualifications only:
- Level 5
- Level 6
- Level 7
- Level 8
Subject
- These stem from NOS mapping and industry relevant keywords.
Qualification level
- SVQ
- NVQ
- VRQ
- T-Level
Unit title
- The unit title is mapped to QCF units
Tags
All resource pages are tagged with keywords and mapping information. If you click them, a list of all resources related to that term will appear.
The tags at the top of the page provide curriculum mapping information, like level, resource type, subject, qualification and unit.

The tags at the bottom of the page are derived from NOS keywords, which could be topic terms like care, site-management, or databases, but it can also have terms covering the related skills like prepare, research and analyse.
