Resource controls for the vocational resource services

Construction, digital and IT, education childcare, hairdressing, health and social care training services have embedded players with the following controls.

Video controls

Videos use an embedded player with options to play, pause, skim forwards and backwards, adding closed captions subtitles, volume controls – with a one-click mute, and full screen mode.

Quiz and activity controls

Quizzes and activities load in an iframe when selected from the resource page. This has been improved so it will load in as a new page, in full screen mode – to help use on mobile devices. The quizzes have answer buttons to select and submit buttons, activities have navigational buttons to move through the material.

Guide controls

Guides are available in PDF and Word document files. Controls to navigate the guides will differ depending on your player.

Embedded PDF viewer featured on some services’ resource pages allows you to scroll, jump through the pages, zoom and view full screen.

Internet browser PDF viewers are generally all similar allowing you to view in full-screen mode, find words and phrases and scroll down the pages.

Adobe PDF viewer enables you to view in full-screen mode, find words and phrases, scroll down the pages, jump to a specific page, highlight text, add notes and print as a booklet.

Transcript controls

Microsoft Word allows you to view in full-screen mode, find words and phrases, scroll down the pages, tab through sections, easily edit, note-take via and there is a suite of learning tools, for more information on learning tools see the Microsoft guide.
