Making the most of your 30-day trial
Congratulations! You’ve taken the first step by subscribing to Jisc’s skills services, now we’d like to help you benefit fully from implementing digital resources into the curriculum.
Work with curriculum leads and teaching practitioners
Teaching practitioners play a vital role in embedding digital resources into teaching and learning. Learners rely on teaching practitioners to point them in the direction of relevant, high quality, learning resources.
Ensure that curriculum leads and teaching practitioners for each subject area have a strategy for implementing digital resources, and work with them to increase usage.
Teaching practitioners can search the site using unit titles, keywords, subject areas, qualifications, and levels to find relevant resources to use in their lessons. Embedding our resources into lesson plans is vital in order to successfully introduce them into teaching and learning, it’s easy for practitioners to supplement their current teaching material with digital content.
Book follow up meetings to discuss feedback and assess usage of the resources. There may be a barrier that needs to be overcome, but by continuing the conversation with teaching practitioners, you can ensure that utilising digital resources remains a priority.
We have a support site filled with tips and ideas for teaching staff and we have also launched our Digital Learning Resources in FE teaching toolkit which has been designed to offer support and guidance on how FE teaching practitioners can use digital learning resources effectively to enhance teaching and learning. Make sure you take full advantage of these supporting materials and encourage teaching practitioners to explore the teaching tool kit.
We’ve done the hard work, so you don’t have to
Our vocational learning resources eliminate the need for teaching practitioners to spend hours preparing material for learners or searching for relevant interactive content. Our resources are high quality and developed specifically for the FE curriculum, with our FE learners at the forefront of the design.
Resources are on a single, easy-to-use platform so teachers and learners can always access the resources in their most current form, and there is no need to download additional software to gain access. The platform is mobile and tablet friendly, as well as being cross-browser responsive with a user-centered design. Convenient guides and infographics can be printed and used as supplementary material in lessons, as posters or for homework. Through a variety of engaging resource types (videos, step-by-step guides, learning activities (quizzes, SCORM), and glossary), there is content that appeals to a range of learning needs.
Our resources help to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of meaningful learning experiences. Resources were designed to employ Kolb’s theory of experiential learning, considering the four-stage learning cycle. The supporting pedagogy operates at high levels of Blooms taxonomy, encouraging learners to create new knowledge based on the principals learned.
How will you use them?
Use of interactive resources is essential to support learner success. Vocational subjects are renowned for being difficult to teach with a textbook alone and learning from textbooks does not suit all learning styles. Blended learning techniques bring variation to lessons and help to keep learners engaged. Our resources are accessible to a variety of learning requirements and can be used as part of a lesson or as a supplementary or revision learning tool.
Supplemental blended learning – make your activities digital by including the resources in your lesson plan. Include our videos, guides, quizzes, activities, infographics and games.
Flipped learning – introduce learners to content before the lesson and then use valuable face to face classroom time to support them as they practice what they’ve learned.
Encourage learners to access the resources themselves – it will improve their digital literacy.
Interactive revision – promote the resources as a revision tool, motivating learners to revise more effectively.
On the go – our resources can be used from mobile devices, offering a flexible approach to learning that allows time poor learners to access content at a time and place that works for them.
Reinforce classroom learning – resources can be used as homework to reinforce classroom learning.
There are lots of materials to help raise awareness of the vocational learning resource services and their benefits.
