Meet the team
Meet the Further Education and skills team at Jisc, together we develop and maintain vocational learning resource services.
The team is headed by Karla Youngs. Karla has over 20 years’ experience within the further and higher education sector in developing and delivering digital media and content related services and projects. She has led teams in developing applied research activities, information and learning resources, and training and consultancy to clients across FE and skills, HE and the cultural heritage sector. She is responsible for the strategy and portfolio activity for Jisc delivering digital content resources to support FE members, overseeing team activity to deliver against this strategy.
Pete Collins the manager of further education and skills services digital resources team, guiding the team, the service and project management functions within the Further Education and Skills area. Pete has been with Jisc for many years, previously supporting the Jorum Open Educational Resources repository before moving into this role.
Helen Foster is the team’s curriculum and services support officer. Helen has over six years’ experience in the education sector, working in secondary school and FE libraries, as both a teacher of English and librarian. Helen was involved in the curriculum design of the new skills services, recommending units to be covered in each service which would also be relevant for the forthcoming T Levels. Helen was also responsible for testing content of the resources, ensuring that the content was relevant to the curriculum and met the needs of the FE sector. Her experience as a teacher of English enabled her to assess the language of the skills services, and suggest amendments to the spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
